The Midnight Drive-In: High Spirits & Nothing But Trouble

We’re talking some horror comedies.  First up is High Spirits with The Gute Steve Guttenburg and a cast that has to be seen to be believed.  After that we follow it up with a movie that killed Dan Akroyd’s career.  Nothing But Trouble.  After that we talk some Luke Cage,  Jurassic World, Final Exam, Alone In The Dark, and Orca.

The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs On Friday The 13th

Joe Bob Briggs is proclaiming this his LAST time hosting his Drive-In show.  On Friday the 13th in July Shudder will be hosting 24 hours of movies hosted by Joe Bob Briggs. He’ll be doing his classic format even with movie breaks even though Shudder doesn’t have commercials.  And this is a LIVE event.  No watching it after it happens.  Watch the promo below and then read the details:

JOE BOB TO HOST 24-HOUR MOVIE MARATHON ON FRIDAY THE 13TH THIS JULY ON SHUDDER

I’m gonna put on the black hat, polish the belt buckle, dust off the Lazy-Boy recliner, and settle in at the trailer house for my movie-hosting farewell tour….13 movies starting on Friday the 13th this July on Shudder, the streaming service owned by AMC.

It’ll kick off at 9pm ET (6pmPDT) on Shudder, and we’re going dusk to dawn til almost dusk again. The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs is 13 movies on Friday the 13th with all the classic Joe Bob elements–the trailer house set, a new Mail Girl, digressions, rants, offbeat celebrity interviews, the Drive-In Totals, and interruptions to talk about the movie. (We have commercial breaks on a network that has no commercials. Possibly a television first.)

I’ll be sending out more details soon about exactly how you can sign up for Shudder to watch the show as it airs.

The Midnight Drive-In: The Creeping Flesh & Nothing But The Night

Hey look it’s Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.  Two awesome guys that go great together.  First we check out the thriller with quite a twist Nothing But The Night.  After that we look at what pure evil actually is.  Being really slutty in The Creeping Flesh.  After that we talk Hereditary, The Curse Of Frankenstein, Cargo, I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore, Hotel Artemis, The Endless, and Ginger Snaps.  That’s a lot of movies.

The Midnight Drive-In: Black Belt Jones & The Last Dragon

Well we learned that apparently Canadians burned down the white house in the war of 1812 so we promptly kicked Doug off the show.  Noah and I figured we should learn kung fu to make sure none of this ever happens again and what better way to learn than by watching movies?  First up we checked out the Jim Kelly classic Black Belt Jones.  We followed that up with learning from the Shogun of Harlem in The Last Dragon.  No Canadians are burning down our white house again!

The Midnight Drive-In: Red & Blue Ruin

We were feeling too good about ourselves so we decided to bring the mood down a bit by watching the 2008 Jack Ketchum adaptation RED and then the 2013 Jeremy Sauliner movie Blue Ruin.  We also discuss the cancellation of Roseanne, pooping in Tim Hortons, and films such as Split Image, Murder Party, Flash Gordon, Dune, The Starman TV show, and a bit of Solo.

The Midnight Drive-In: The Last Starfighter & Starman

We take to the stars this week to talk about 2 sci fi movies from 1984 that have STAR in the title.  First up is The Last Starfighter.  How good at you at video games?  It could land you a wicked job Starfighter.  Then after that we watch Jeff Bridges phone home in the John Carpenter alien film Starman.  All this and we find out some interesting facts about dating Noah.

The Midnight Drive-In: Dead Alive & Ed And His Dead Mother

We missed Mother’s Day by a week and then randomly decided to do two movies about dead mothers.  We’re on the ball.  Anyway we talk about the Peter Jackson classic Dead Alive (aka Braindead) and the Steve Buscemi comedy Ed And His Dead Mother.  There is a small discussion about the state of the Star Wars Universe, Deadpool 2, and a non-recommend from Doug.

The Midnight Drive-In: Demons & Rawhead Rex

This week we’re teaming up two movies that I have once again forgotten why.  But we mention it in the episode.  First up is the Argento/Luci joint Demons.  After that we talk some Rawhead Rex.  During the show we also find out Noah’s hatred for a 90’s horror franchise, talk the upcoming THE PREDATOR, and read a lot of long ass emails.

The Midnight Drive-In: Malibu Express & Hard Ticket To Hawaii

In week two of letting Noah pick movies we have Malibu Express and Hard Ticket To Hawaii.  There lots of talk about boobs, rocket launchers, and snakes.  Listen in as Doug’s soul withers and Noah laughs at his misfortune!  Also a few pieces of feedback but we’re pretty light on other movies this week.  It’s a quick one.

The Midnight Drive-In: Dr. Strange & Doctor Mordrid

Since these comic book movies are all the rage we figured we would talk about some comic book related films.  First up is the 1978 TV movie Dr. Strange.  Lots of mustaches in this one.  After that it’s time for Full Moon’s Doctor Mordrid starring Jeffrey Combs.  Let’s face it it’s really just a Doctor Strange rip off.  But it does have a skeleton fight.  After all that we talk about Fargo, Lost In Space, Spider-Man 2, Puppet Master, Sub Species, Black Lightning, Death Race 2050, Ash vs. Evil Dead, Ruby, and the Roger Corman Fantastic Four.

Geek Nerdery Podcast: Avengers Infinity War

I’m joined by my cohosts from The Midnight Drive-In Doug and Noah to break down the culmination of 10 years of work from Marvel Studios Avengers Infinity War!  Did it live up to the hype?  Find out.  Also this review is very spoilery so we advise not listening without seeing the movie first.

The Midnight Drive-In: Death Race 2000 & Rollerball

It’s that season.  It’s time for some Dystopian Sports!  We’ll b talking about two movies from 1975 that feature what could be televised sports in the future.  First up is James Caan in Rollerball.  Then after that it’s time to rev your engines for the Corman classic Death Race 2000!  We also talk about Jason X, Spider-Man, Leatherface, King of Kong, the new Netflix series Lost in Space, and Sorcerer.

The Midnight Drive-In: Commando & Cobra

We are looking at the two kings of 80’s action with Commando starring Schwarzenegger and then Cobra starring Stallone.  Which one has held up the best?  After that we talk about what else we’ve seen and end up talking some wrestling and specifically talking about attending wrestling shows back in the day.

The Midnight Drive-In: Frogs & Slugs

After a month of Critters and Leprechaun movies we decided maybe it was time for some nature fights back films.  First up is Sam Elliott as a photographer/nature specialist fighting mind controlling Frogs!  Then make sure you check your salad as we’ll be talking some mutant radioactive Slugs!  Also Bryan tells you about a tattoo dream he had that now has to become a reality, some films discussed are Ready Player One, The Night Visitor, and Game Over Man!

Hope the Easter Bunny brought you lots of candy.  While you’re out searching for Easter Eggs enjoy our Easter Show!!!!  We also chat about Phantasm Ravager, Chopping Mall, Sorority Babes In The Slimeball Bowlarama, Parents, Bone Tomahawk, and Good Time.  Plus your feedback!  Happy Easter Everyone!

The Midnight Drive-In: Critters 4 & Leprechaun 4

We decided to do something a little different this week and we went with some sci-fi films set IN SPAAAAAAACE!  We’ll be talking Critters 4 and Leprechaun 4.  On top of that we chat about Jessica Jones, The Gate, Brawl In Cell Block 99 (yes again), Psycho, and Blood Feast.

The Midnight Drive-In: Critters 3 & Leprechaun 3

To celebrate the work of Christina Criswell we decided to check out the movies Critters 3 and Leprechaun 3.  That make up . . .  We end up enjoying one of the movies immensely and the other just so/so.  After that we chat about Fargo, The Poughkipsee Tapes, Veronica, and The Strangers: Prey At Night.  Enjoy!

The Midnight Drive-In: Critters 2 & Leprechaun 2

Who loves props?  We do.  That’s why this episode we’re celebrating prop maker Michael W. Moore.  We’ll be talking about 2 of our favorite films of his Critters 2 and Leprechaun 2.  So sit back and let’s talk some wrought iron, critterballs, and motorboating a lawnmower.  Also we come with our own sequel to the Leprechaun franchise called Leprechauns.  It’s pretty great.  Also we chat some Brawl In Cell Block 99, Slasher, and Fargo.

The Midnight Drive-In: Critters & Leprechaun

For some reason it was decided we should watch Critters and Leprechaun for this week’s show.  The only reason Doug gave was “Little things eating people.” Seemed like a good enough excuse to me.  Other things we talked about were Mom & Dad, Slasher, and Coffy.  We also ramble a lot in this episode.  Enjoy.
