Pre-Taped Mania 36 Night Two

The Firefly Fun House match was a crazy fever dream on LSD and I loved it. It wasn’t even a match mostly a bunch of segments put together highlighting John Cena’s wrestling career through the eyes of Bray Wyatt. All the little inside jokes from Wyatt or from the video packages had me H-A-R-D. I mean, this “match” is a call back from a match they had at WrestleMania 30. Cena’s biggest failure was his Ruthless Aggression gimmick, but when Bray said, You can look but you can’t touch that’s a gut buster calling back to Cena’s relationship with Nikki Bella. How about the video package towards the end when they showed every wrestler Cena held back or buried throughout the years, tell me you didn’t see CM Punk blowing that kiss. I popped when all the WCW stuff aired, talking about an alternate reality. WCW winning the Monday Night War and John Cena leading a new version of the nWo. Dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria! In my Night One write up I said, the vision Vince McMahon has for Sports Entertainment was the Boneyard match. You can now add Firefly Fun House match to said vision.

I been all over Twitter reading IWC tweets and this “match” is split down the middle. Some likes this goofy mini masterpiece and other thought it was killing the business. As much as I love wrestling on one hand and bash it with the other… (See Benoit meme) I enjoyed every bit of this match because it was for the smart marks like me who’s been watching wrestling for decades.

Now that’s out of the way, how about that Edge-Randy Orton Last Man Standing match? That’s another match the IWC wanted to end because it went far to long, but I didn’t think it did. I enjoyed every bit of Orton and Edge putting on a They Live style street fight and Edge won at the end. Sure everyone wanted to see Edge in a ring wrestling but give it time you’ll get it.

Brock Lesnar and Drew McIntyre had a “Brock Lesnar, Goldberg” type of match with finish after finish after finish until Drew hit another claymore kick and got the 1 2 3 and became the new WWE Champion.

Everything I just wrote about I liked, well that Lesnar-McIntyre I didn’t. My point is Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley was my match of the night. The selling Ripley did when Flair was working over her knee was on point. Charlotte is the new NXT Women’s Champion and I know both Ripley and Baszler both lost but Baszler just became a main roster wrestler and Ripley has a long career ahead of her and will get that victory over Flair.

The build to Otis and Ziggler I didn’t pay attention to but I was fully invested in the match and wanted Otis to win and he did and got a kiss from Mandy Rose. In my opinion I feel like if you’re connected to Dolph Ziggler your career won’t go anywhere, so get Sonya Deville as far away from him as possible.

The rest of the matches went something like this… Aleister Black defeated Bobby Lashley. The Street Profiles defeated Garza & Theory to keep the RAW Tag Team Championships. And Bayley won the fatal five way to keep her SmackDown Women’s Championship.

WrestleMania 36 is in the books. It was a different type of WrestleMania without all the hype and Hall of Fame but it’s Mania and I enjoyed it.

Thoughts On Survivor Series (2016)

Goldberg defeated Brock Lesnar in a two minute squash match… You can say I was disappointed in this match, I wanted to see Suplex City at least once or a couple press slams from Goldberg but I didn’t. This match was a lot better than their WrestleMania XX meet up.

The RAW vs SmackDown! Live Survivor Series match was one of the best I’ve seen. Sure the way Kevin Owens and Jericho got eliminated was odd, but I enjoyed the whole thing. The SHIELD reunion was a treat. Maybe in the future we can see a six man tag with the Wyatt Family-SHIELD later down the line. It was said the MVP from this match was Shane O Mac, but I think that title needs to go to Seth Rollins he had more match time than anyone.

WWE: Survivor Series (2016) Predictions

This Sunday is the 2016 Survivor Series and it’s RAW vs SmackDown. But before I get to my predictions, allow me to address all these WWE Network specials or “pay per view” every two weeks. I find having these specials every two weeks a bit overwhelming and it’s too much at times. For example, the only match I was looking forward to with Hell in a Cell was Sasha Banks vs Charlotte. Because I know those two can have a good match and they did. Some matches and Network specials I could care less about, just overwhelming.

Now Survivor Series is part of the big four but it’s feeling like Bragging Rights but I digress… To my predictions…

Goldberg is back and wants to face Brock Lesnar in a one on one match… I’ve seen their match at WrestleMania XX and it was awful but I have a small glimmer of hope that this match will be good. Hopefully Goldberg can get the ring rust off because that lock up he had with Rusev looked bad. In the match I can see Lesnar bring Goldberg to Suplex City. But if this match is just a one off for Goldberg, I can see Lesnar winning the match.

In an five on five elimination Survivor Series tag team match with Team RAW (Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, and Seth Rollins) vs. Team SmackDown (AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton and Shane McMahon) (with Luke Harper and James Ellsworth)… This match is stacked and I hope it goes on last. I see Team SmackDown winning this match because SD needs a victory over RAW to keep their momentum going so they won’t be seen as the “B Show”.

Sami Zayn in WWE has done well for himself but he needs that big win. Sure he’s gotten some over Kevin Owens, but it’s time for Zayn to carry a belt and I see him defeating Dolph Ziggler to become the new IC Champion.

I know one thing, the E has this Network special stacked with Survivor Series type matches… So let me give you all a quick run down, if you will. The winners are!

Team SmackDown – Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, Carmella, and Naomi with Natalya.

Team Raw – The New Day, Sheamus and Cesaro, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, Enzo Amore and Big Cass and The Primo and Epico.

Kalisto defeats The Brian Kendrick for the Cruiserweight Championship, to bring the Cruiserweight division to SmackDown.

There you have it, my predictions! But who do you want to see win at Survivor Series? Comment below.
