TLH Episode 34 – Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon and Lake Mungo

This week on The Last Horrorcast we discuss a few mockumentaries. We begin by spending a great deal of time gushing over one of our favorite films, Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. Following that, we get Doug’s reaction after his first viewing of Lake Mungo.

We had quite a bit of feedback to get through after the break, most of which was just listeners picking on Scott.

As always, we welcome feedback at thelasthorrorcast@gmail.com and on our Facebook page or leave us a voicemail at 206-600-9711. Be sure to subscribe and leave us a review in iTunes, Stitcher, and YouTube.

TLH Episode 33 – In the Shadow of Kilimanjaro and Link

Just when you thought we couldn’t be any more obscure with our episode themes, we bring you two films about killer monkeys, both released in the same year. First we watch an former circus monkey with a pension for arson chase Elisabeth Shue around in Link. Then learn about the super true story of a time when lack of rain made Kenyan baboons go crazy in In the Shadow of Kilimanjaro.

After the break, we read a few emails and talk about some video games before finally putting the show out of its misery.

TLH Episode 32 – April Fool’s Day and Happy Birthday to Me

This week we’re celebrating Scott’s April Fool’s Day birthday with a couple of appropriately titled 80s slashers, April Fool’s Day and Happy Birthday to Me. Be prepared for spoilers, as these are some of the most twisty and convoluted slashers ever made. But don’t worry, knowing how they end won’t change your enjoyment of them, nor will it help you understand them better.

We’re back this week with a special bonus episode. After taking a week off and having a non-traditional episode last week, we decided to still record our thoughts on a couple of mannequin themed films. We discuss Tourist Trap and Pin, as well as the Jon Knautz directed short, Still Life. Finally, we wrap up with our thoughts on a classic mannequin themed Twilight Zone episode, The After Hours.

Well, with Scott’s absence this week, we turned the mic on and allowed a guest host into the studio. In addition, we gave him control of the theme and movies. Please welcome guest host Anthony D.P. Mann to the show, and enjoy his picks of Phantom of the Paradise and The Return of Captain Invincible.

This week we take a fresh look at Rob Zombie films. Be sure to listen to find out what Scott thinks of House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects, both of which he’s seeing for the first time. Plus, you don’t want to miss Doug trying to convince the world that The Devil’s Rejects was an ode to Empire Strikes Back. Yea…that happened.

After the break we discuss a couple of new releases, and Scott talks about some 80s gold with Slaughter High and Class of 1999. Is Scott actually an 80s slasher killer? Listen to find out.

This week we take a break from the traditional themes and let Scott knock off a couple of films that have been on his ever growing to-do list. We spend the first segment watching our opinion of The Signal deteriorate right before our eyes, and wrap up by learning that Doug’s heart is ice cold as we discuss Spring.

After some fan mail, we discuss a couple of new trailers and talk about a few random watches we each had this week.

TLH Episode 24 – Alien vs. Predator and Tremors 4

This week we take a trip back in time and take a look at some very specific prequels. Both of our films this week involve the trope of identical grandparents. We’ll let you listen to the episode to learn what that means. Doug explores the concept of racist earth worms with Tremors 4: The Legend Begins and Scott chooses the newest Resident Evil film, AVP: Alien vs. Predator.

After the break, we read off some fan mail, discuss a few trailers, and listen to Doug rant about censorship.

After the break we defend ourselves to some listeners who took issue with a couple of our opinions and beg for those of you who haven’t turned on us to help support the show.

TLH Episode 22 – Messiah of Evil and The Devil’s Rain

This week on the show, we watched a couple of movies. We think they were about satanism. A lot of stuff happened in them at least, although we’re not sure what any of it meant.

After rambling and making absolutely no sense for about an hour or so, we talk about some recent releases and trailers. This half of the show makes a little more sense, but not much. At least we’ll always have Goatman.

We had a lot of fan mail this week, as well as some updates on our ongoing contest. Be sure to listen for the update.

We were light on feedback this week, so after the break, we had some time to discuss a new way to listen to TLH each week, announce a new contest, and get into some spoiler talk for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

After some listener feedback, we take a few minutes to discuss the new theatrical hit, Krampus.

TLH Episode 15 – Black Sheep and Isolation

This week we are heading down to farm for some killer farm animal themed horror flicks. After discussing Scott’s unnatural discomfort with farm animals in general, we break down Black Sheep (2006) and Isolation (2005).

After the break and a bit of listener feedback, we share a few brief thoughts on Found (2012) and The Harvest (2013).

TLH Episode 14 – Black Mirror: Season 1

This week your hosts are going with another listener suggested theme. There have been several requests for television horror, and more specifically British television, so this week’s topic is the 2011 premier season of Black Mirror.

There was no listener feedback this week, so after the break, your hosts briefly discuss their thoughts on the upcoming holiday horror film, Krampus.
