WWE: Eric Bischoff – Sports Entertainment’s Most Controversial Figure

WWE finally updated their Beyond the Ring section on the WWE Network. There you will find a lot of their home video releases… in other words, home video release I’m not willing to buy.

Starting off the documentary with the intro I got a bad feeling because a lot of the sound bites and footage came from The Monday Night War: WWE Raw vs. WCW Nitro (2004) DVD, so I thought this was going to be a rehash but was I wrong. All new interviews with Eric Bischoff and I was surprised seeing Sonny Onoo being interviewed. But here’s the break down… Majority of the stories from Bischoff running WCW have been told before but there is a couple things that caught my eye. Like Bischoff blaming himself for not bringing up talent and elevate them to the main event level. He was mostly talking about cruiser weights like Jericho, Kidman, Guerrero, Malenko etc. Another point Bischoff made was about the PPV revenue because at the end of the day that money went to Turner Broadcasting and Time Warner and not to WCW.

Overall… I find this documentary okay, because I heard a lot these stories about Bischoff, WCW, and Monday Night War before. A lot of rehashing but it does give you a good history of 90’s wrestling and how WCW beat WWE for like 84 weeks in a row. Just watch it on the WWE Network.

Emmalina Coming To RAW

For the past three weeks I been seeing vignettes on RAW for Emmalina. Basically, the E is just repackaging Emma with a new gimmick and from the vignettes I’m seeing I have no idea what her gimmick is going to be. But I hope she returns as a heel, because her heel run before she got hurt was great. Her look was good too with black gloves, mirror sunglasses and a remixed themed. Why fix something that isn’t broken? I’m looking forward to her return.

So what do you think, is Emmalina returning with a heel her gimmick or back to babyface?

Young Justice Season 3 Announced

I’m a fan of cartoons.  Throw in some super heroes and I’m a HUGE fan of cartoons.  One I was a fan of was the DC cartoon Young Justice.  It was fun seeing all the side kicks get their turn in the spotlight and it had a rather unconventional season structure where at the end of season 1 into season 2 it jumped ahead a few months and completely changed the dynamic of the team without any explination so that when the story  unfolded for the season you got to see what these changes were all about.  We were sad when it was announced that it was canceled after Season 2.

There was some lobbying by fans for Netflix to pick it up but it remained pretty silent until today.  There’s no word on where it’s going to be shown but it looks like Season 3 is moving forward in production so we at least will see something.  Were you a fan of the show?

Ash vs. Evil Dead 2×06 “Trapped Inside”

Oh baby, this review will contain spoilers.

I nerded out hardcore at Ash vs. Evil Dead episode 6. It had been spoiled for me that Cheryl would be making her return, so unfortunately I missed the fun of the big reveal. What I did not miss, however, was the amazing attention to detail paid by the amazing AvED writers.

First off, check above for the make up. They paid tribute to the original movie with the forehead bandage and cheek scratches, although maybe goring them out a little bit. After all, 35 years have passed so maybe they’re infected? She should try some antibiotics.

Another nice touch was the art desk in Cheryl’s room. Who could forget Cheryl’s clock masterpiece before the Book of the Dead took over her drawing hand to ruin it?

And I think “I’m gonna make like a tree and fuck you” may be the best quote from anything Evil Dead related. Movies and series combined.

Generally speaking though, I think this episode really encompassed the general feeling and tone I’ve loved from the Evil Dead movie series and continued into the TV series. Throwbacks and references to the original, bizarre and sometimes hacked together continuity, fun and silliness combined with “true” horror.

Cheryl was the original deadite and I, for one, was thrilled to see that same deadite reprise her role. Will we see more from other lost souls from the movie series? I’d love to see Scotty or the original Linda. How about Annie or Bobby Joe? Those may not have the same impact as Ash’s sister, but we fans would love to see them.

I was a bit worried that the TV series would not live up to the original movie series I’ve loved so much, but these last few episodes have put all those remaining worries to rest.

Lego Batman Needs a Friend in Trailer #4

Somewhere almost dead center between the camp of the neon Schumacher Bat and the angry, ultra-violent Snyder Bat, the Lego Batman sits quietly in wait…trying to get his BatTV to work.
Today, Warner Bros dropped trailer #4 for the solo Lego Batman movie out next year. After his scene-stealing cameo in 2014’s Lego movie, the Bat is back and he’s flying solo. He’s saving the day and earning the adulation of millions of fans, but still there seems to be something missing in his life. At the insistence of Alfred, Batman reluctantly learns to take responsibility of the young boy he’s adopted, and along the way, builds a team of heroes to help him on his life’s mission.
The Lego Batman movie hits theaters in February 2017 and features the voice talents of Will Arnett, Ralph Fiennes, Rosario Dawson, Zach Galifianakis and Michael Cera.

Ted DiBiase Jr. Returning For Indie Promotion

Former WWE Superstar Ted DiBiase Jr. is coming out of retirement for a match at Pro Wrestling EGO’s “The Last Call” event on Saturday, December 3rd in Pearl, Mississippi. The event will be a law enforcement fundraiser to benefit Rankin and Hinds County Honor Guard teams. Full details on the event are at this link. It appears DiBiase last wrestled in December 2013 for the FWE promotion.

Side Note: Personally, I want DiBiase Jr. to return to the ring. He was good, I know the E booked him wrong. Just give him the Million Dollar Man gimmick and let him do his own thing.

Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events Gets A Trailer

Before now we’ve only gotten a quick peek of Patrick Warburton’s Lemony Snicket giving us a tour of the set of the new Netflix adaptation of A Series Of Unfortunate Events.  Now we’ve got a full trailer of not only the kids but of Neil Patrick Harris in his full Count Olaf make up.  I think it’s perfect casting as he seems like he’ll fully embrace every scene chewing moment.

These books were adapted before for the big screen but never had a follow up.  Doing it as a Netflix series seems like the perfect way to adapt a book series like this.  Check out the trailer below.

New Wonder Woman Trailer Brings The Bling

We have been treated to the second Wonder Woman trailer and we get to see more of the island of Themyscira, more World War I action, and lots of bullets bouncing off of wristbands.

I’ve been vocal about my disappointment with Batman V. Superman but have said that anytime Diana was in her gear throwing down it was pretty awesome.  Can’t wait to see what is in store for Wonder Woman’s first theatrical outing in her own film.  What about you?  Check out the new trailer below.

Evil Dead in Videogame

So it looks like Ash will be a character in a new Family Guy mobile game (source).  But this is hardly the first time we’ve seen Ash starring in a video game.

It all started in 1984 if you can believe that. This was in a time before most major consoles, so the game was instead played on Commodore 64. I don’t recommend playing it as it will forever taint your opinion of Evil Dead, but you can at least watch this guy play it.

Ash took some time off after that and didn’t reappear officially until 2000 with Evil Dead: Hail to the King for PlayStation.

Many games use Ash as inspiration for the characters, notably Doom, but it’s good to see the real Ash back in the game.

Jamie Lee Curtis Comes Face To Face With Michael Myers For Halloween

This years Halloween may be behind us now and while some may be gearing up for Christmas and giving Thanksgiving a pass, that doesn’t mean the spooktacular season has to come to a close.

Horror icon Jamie Lee Curtis is busy with the second season of Fox’s Scream Queens. However, during directing an episode of the show, she took a few minutes to pose with some of her crew who felt it necessary to pay tribute to her Laurie Strode character from the legendary Halloween franchise.

Over at her official twitter, Curtis posted the following…

My crew suits up & shows up on Halloween. I have my director’s megaphone & whip & sensible shoes 🎃

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why we love us some Jamie Lee Curtis (Activia commercials forgiven).
