A Very Special Episode Of Horror Junk

Anyone who knows me knows I started my podcasting days on a video podcast called Horror Junk.  Well November marked the 10th Anniversary of the first episode so we decided to get together and do a fun episode to mark the ocassion.  So for the first time ever all three hosts of Horror Junk sit down to review a ultra low budget horror film in old Horror Junk fashion.  Enjoy.

Horror Junk

Just a Drunken Zombie begat Geek Nerdery, Horror Junk begat Drunken Zombie. I think I’m using ‘begat’ properly there in that context.

10 years ago, 2 guys in their 20’s sat down, drank too many beers and discussed horror movies in front of a camera. The movie was then shared via YouTube and as a video podcast. It was popular for it’s time and a ton of fun to make.

As part of our 10-year-anniversary, here’s our very first episode.

The audio episodes were almost lost forever, but I managed to find most of them. If you’re feeling a bit nostalgic like myself and want to hear a hybrid of Horror Junk and Drunken Zombie, check out this episode.

For the others that I managed to recover, go ahead and grab them here.

Hold on tight for another Horror Junk surprise, coming soon.

TLH Episode 59 – Baskin and Hausu

Doug and Bryan are on their own this week, as they try to cobble together some intelligent thoughts on two of the most messed up movies we’ve tried to review on the show, the 1977 Japanese film Hausu and 2015’s Turkish film, Baskin. Despite the challenge, they do a good job.

After the break and some feedback, Bryan talks about a ton of October watches including The Shallows, The Toolbox Murders, Eaten Alive, Maniac Cop, The Girl in the Photographs, Don’t go into the Woods, and More Brains! A Return to the Living Dead.

TLH Episode 57 – House of Wax (1953 and 2005)

This week we take a look at a couple of films that have two things in common. One, they both have the same title and two, they both feature “legendary” stars. First is the 1953 House of Wax starring the one and only Vincent Price. Then, we watch a movie in which Paris Hilton takes a pole to the face. (No, not that one.)

After a very massive voicemail, we discuss Ghostheads, The 39 Steps, and Doomed: The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s the Fantastic Four.

TLH Episode 55 – Westworld and Futureworld

In anticipation of the upcoming HBO series, we decided to take a break from horror and check out the 70s sci-fi flicks Westworld and Futureworld. (Picture Jurassic Park with robot cowboys.) We also give our thoughts on a couple of Westworld T.V. promos, 80s cartoons, Extrodinary Tales, and Doug tries to talk us into having a Montreal Screwjob with him.

Then we switch roles and discuss 2006’s Roman, starring Lucky McKee and directed by Angela Bettis. Spoiler alert. This may be one our most divisive reviews yet.

After the break we cover off some random fun. We listen to feedback, give some nicknames to listeners, and Doug switches from beer to rum.

Stick around after the main discussion for some wrestling, Alice Cooper, and Ed Gein.

After the break, we have a ton of movies to talk about, as both Bryan and Scott had their own movie marathons recently. Titles mentioned include Green Room, Rolling Thunder, The Haunting in Connecticut, The RuinsSleepaway Camp III: Teenage WastelandHappy Hell Night, Ticks, Madman, Bloodbath at the House of Death, Friday the 13th (2009), Pacific Rim, Wrong Turn, Rings (short), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), and Halloween (2007).

Join us as we share thoughts, trivia, and jokes about Joel Schumacher’s 1987 classic, The Lost Boys. Thanks for all of your support and contributions throughout the year. It’s been a fun ride.

Well, Bryan decided to take the week off, leaving Scott and Doug to try and hold down the fort and do their best to stay on topic. First, you’ll hear them have the most agreeable disagreement ever while discussing The Church after which they try their best to make sense of mind job that is The Sentinel.

After the break they discuss a few of Scott’s recent watches including Son of Frankenstein, The Shining, and the new VOD release Feed the Devil.

TLH Episode 48 – Dance of the Dead and The Loved Ones

Well, Bryan decided to sit out this week, leaving Scott and Doug to podcast like they did in the good old days, only to learn that they suck at it. After butchering what some might call a review of Dance of the Dead, they actually pull things together for a good discussion of The Loved Ones [spoilers from 58:00-1:11:35]. Also, Doug spoils Psycho.

For those of you who make it to the second half of the show, we discuss an email from Roman, talk about Stranger Things, and take a look back at the Paranormal Activity franchise.

After the break, we kinda go off the rails and just ramble for a while, but be sure not to tune out early, or you might miss out on learning the proper way to measure the number of books on one’s shelf. Spoiler alert, it’s insightful.
